Nearly all the big tech companies have been working on the display for the past several years, but their arrival in smartphones was not great. South Korea's brand Samsung introduced the world's first foldable display smartphone in early 2019 but it took more than six months to arrive in the market.
Almost all the big tech companies have been working on the display for the past several years, but their arrival in smartphones was not great. South Korea's brand Samsung introduced the world's first foldable display smartphone in early 2019 but it took more than six months to arrive in the market. The review unit of this display showed many flaws and many users disappointed this device. Despite this, foldable technology has opened up new space for experiments and future smartphones.
After Samsung, the Foldable smartphone has also been launched by Huawei's Subbrand Honor and recently by Motorola. Honor Mate X and Galaxy Fold, where Honor Mate X and Galaxy Fold become the size of the tablet when opened, have been specially experimented by Motorola. Motorola's foldable device Moto Razr is the first such folding device whose screen folds from top to bottom. On opening, this device becomes like a normal smartphone and its display is not very big.
Motorola has introduced its popular flip phone in a new avatar with the help of a foldable display and it could be a future of foldable devices. Now Samsung is also going to bring a folded device in clamshell style, relying on the design of this device. It can be named Galaxy Z Flip. While the foldable phones of Samsung and Honor are not comfortable to use on opening the screen, the device of Motorola is like a normal phone, which can be folded and kept in the pocket.
The trend of flip phone lasted long
The special thing is that even before the users have been using the middle-facing flip phone, in the same way, the screen that turns from the middle like the flip will not bother at all. In the beginning of mobile phones, where heavy and unformed device users were seen, their display was black and white and small. The size of the display increased with time but the phones became smaller and thinner. Steve Jobs, who launched the Apple iPhone, said in an interview that no one wants to buy a big and heavy smartphone and compact phones are more powerful.
Book like phone not compatible
Steve's point was also true to an extent because at that time users wanted a thinner and lighter device, but as soon as multimedia support was received, users felt the need for a larger display. The display size of the iPhone was first left behind by Android smartphones and Samsung, and later Apple had to launch the iPhone with a larger display. The display of devices is getting bigger and the era of smartphones without badges or notch is going on. However, keeping a phone pocket with more than 6 inches display is not comfortable for most users.
Clamshell design is better
Most users want a smartphone whose display is large but can be used easily by holding it with one hand. With the foldable display technology being cheap and outdated, more and more companies will use it and the most practical design can be folded like a flip phone. It will be special to see that this display tech brings new tablet size phones, or standard size. If you talk from the perspective of the choice of users, then the time to come can bring many flip style foldable phones.
